Enyimba strengthen squad ahead of new NPFL season

As the countdown to the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season begins, teams are actively reinforcing their squads in preparation for what promises to be a competitive campaign. Amongst the most active in the transfer market are former NPFL champions, Enyimba International, who are determined to make their mark in the upcoming season.

The return of NPFL matches to television screens last season was a significant development for Nigerian football, thanks to a five-year broadcast rights deal worth N5.91 billion with StarTimes. This partnership has allowed fans across the country to enjoy live matches from the comfort of their homes, bringing the thrill of the league to a much wider audience.

Enyimba has made several notable signings, including the acquisition of 27-year-old striker Wasiu Jimoh from Zambian side Forest Rangers. Jimoh is well-known within the NPFL, having previously played for clubs such as Shooting Stars, IfeanyiUba, Plateau United, and Rivers United. He has also competed in the CAF Confederation Cup, scoring three goals in the second-tier continental competition, where Enyimba will enter at the second qualifying round this season.

Another key addition to the Enyimba squad is goalkeeper Abubakar Zalii, who joins from Doma United. Zalii’s signing follows the departure of Super Eagles goalkeeper Leke Ojo, who has moved to Sudanese outfit Al Merreikh. Additionally, Odinaka Francis has made the switch to the Aba side from Lobi Stars, further boosting Enyimba’s squad depth.
