Enyimba beat Kwara United away as Insurance maintain unbeaten run

Enyimba inflicted a second consecutive home loss on Kwara United, yesterday, beating Afonja Warriors 2-1 at the Akure Township Stadium.

The Peoples Elephant took the lead through Chijioke Mbaoma in the 27th minute, but Samad Kadiri equalised for the host in the 35th minute.

Mbaoma later earned Enyimba the three points to take the record champions to the second position on the Group B table.

Elsewhere, Group B leaders, Bendel Insurance, maintained their unbeaten run in the 14-week-old league as Remo Stars held the Benin Arsenal to a 1-1 draw.

Divine Nwachukwu leveled the game for the Benin Arsenal in the 20th minute after Kwane Mawuna gave the host lead in the 16th minute. Insurance FC have now set a new unbeaten record from the start of the season, their 14 unbeaten run has overtaken the 13-game unbeaten run set by Enyimba in 2005

Plateau United defeated Akwa United 1-0 in Jos, with Ibrahim Mustapha the game winner with a 36th minute goal.

Enugu Rangers lost a two-goal lead to end their game against Niger Tornadoes 2-2 at the Awka Township Stadium, while Shooting Stars held El-Kanemi Warrior to a goalless draw in Maiduguri.

Reuben Bala and Kenneth Igboke gave the Flying Antelope a 2-0 advantage under 20 minutes, but Tornadoes hit back in the second half through a brace from Munir Idris.

The game between Rivers United and Dakkada FC ended abruptly due to unfavourable condition.

Rivers United were leading by a lone goal scored by Alberta Kovar before the centre referee called off the game at the Adokiye Amiesimiaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
