Entire town centre shut due to 'serious incident'
Police shut a town centre due to a serious incident on Friday afternoon. The incident happened at around 5pm at Taff Street in Pontypridd.
The road was closed in both directions between Taff Street and High Street, before Taff Street reopened some hours later. Police said the town centre was expected to remain closed for some time. For the latest Pontypridd news, sign up to our newsletter here

There were delays in the area and police asked motorists to avoid the area. A spokesman for South Wales Police said at 5pm: "We are at the scene of a serious incident on Taff Street, Pontypridd.
"The road is currently closed in both directions between Taff Street and High Street. Pontypridd Town centre is expected to remain closed for some time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Delays are expected in the area." Police had not issued any further updates as of 10pm on Friday and it was unclear if the centre had fully reopened.
