England are bidding to end 58 years of hurt this evening when they take on Spain in the final of the 2024 European Championship.

Gareth Southgate’s side are one step away from sporting immortality with the Three Lions taking part in their first ever final on foreign soil.

England reached the Berlin showpiece with a last-gasp 2-1 victory against the Netherlands in Dortmund on Wednesday. Substitute Ollie Watkins scored the 90th-minute winner after Harry Kane’s penalty and Xavi Simons’ early strike.

Spain, meanwhile, booked their place in the final the previous evening. Luis de la Fuente’s charges beat France 2-1, with 16-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal among the scorers.
