England and Ireland fans clash in Dublin ahead Nations League match

There was a clash between fans as England took on the Republic of Ireland in Dublin. Three thousand England fans descended on Dublin on Saturday for the match, which kicked-off at 5pm.

It was the Three Lions first competitive game against Ireland in the capital since an infamous game in 1995 had to be game abandoned due to crowd trouble.

There was a large Garda presence outside the Aviva Stadium, formerly known as Lansdowne Road. Many Englands soaked up the atmosphere in the city centre before gathering at the Grand Canal Hotel, ten minutes walk from the ground.

Whilst rowdy Irish fans packed out the nearby Slattery's pub, singing "Come on You Boys In Green" and a number of chants designed to antagonise Three Lions supporters.

A small scuffle broke out shortly after 4pm as fans began to make their way into the stadium, the Mirror reports with police force to intervene. One Irish fan was approached by police after appearing to be shoved to the ground

A spokesperson for the Irisih police force the Gardai said there had been no arrests so far and no significant reported trouble.
