An Emmerdale star has set the record straight regarding their future on the popular ITV soap following an unexpected 'exit twist' concerning their character this week.

Ella Forster found herself behind bars in a dramatic episode of Emmerdale on Thursday, having assaulted Wendy Posner. This led viewers to ponder whether actress Paula Lane had departed from her role, but she has since opened up about the intense scenes.

While shedding light on Ella's motives, Paula seemed to indicate whether she would continue in the role, hinting at what lies ahead for Ella. She suggested there was "no way out" for her character, which precipitated the attack on Wendy, reports the Mirror.

Nevertheless, comments made post-episode suggest that Paula's character Ella isn't leaving Emmerdale just yet, despite being taken into custody. Following the airing of the pivotal scenes, Paula expressed: "Ella attacked Wendy because she felt there was no way out. Wendy's kind words about people caring for her struck Ella hard. She finds it difficult to believe that could ever be the case. She's frustrated that this new place she now calls home will always know her real identity."

She added: "There is no hiding only in prison, that bizarrely is her safe place and she knows exactly what to do to get back there." It appears, then, that audiences can expect Ella to return to the village life, with Paula hinting that other characters might aid her in overcoming her distressing past, ensuring that she can adjust right back into village life.
