Emmerdale Moira Dingle star went into 'overdrive' with real-life health battle

Emmerdale actress Natalie J. Robb has opened up about a past health scare that sent her "into overdrive", as her character Moira Dingle faces a health crisis on the ITV soap.

In Tuesday's episode (August 27), viewers were left shocked when Moira collapsed and began convulsing in a barn, after displaying erratic behaviour earlier in the show. Fans have been speculating about the cause of Moira's seizures, with some suggesting epilepsy.

Reflecting on her own health experiences amid Moira's sudden collapse, Natalie, 49, shared her past ordeal with The Mirror. She revealed it was "pretty scary" when she discovered a lump on her right breast.

"I went to see the doctor who told me they were more worried about one on my left breast," she said. "I asked what they meant as I couldn't feel anything. It was higher up. I went into overdrive and I had to go for a mammogram."

She clarified that the lump was "benign", but the experience changed her outlook, reports the Express. Natalie also discussed her feelings about her character Moira, whom she has played for 15 years, dealing with a serious health condition.

The Scottish actress expressed her belief in the importance of soaps addressing illnesses, to assure viewers who may be experiencing similar health issues that they are not alone.

"I know I would be petrified if I started to have seizures and had no idea why," she admitted. She described her role as challenging and a significant responsibility, revealing that she has gained extensive knowledge about different types of seizures through close collaboration with an expert.
