Emma Raducanu is back in action at Indian Wells as she faces Petra Martic in the third round.

After receiving a bye through the opening round, the 11th-seed pulled off an impressive victory over Caroline Garcia as she won 6-1 3-6 6-1.

It’s been a testing season so far for Raducanu, who suffered with a blister on her hand as she was knocked out of the Australian Open and then returned with a leg injury as she retired in in Guadalajara in her last tournament.

The British star put that behind her though to book a place in the round of 32, with a sense of relief clear after the match.

“I thought the level of tennis was pretty high. It could have gone either way,” said Raducanu.

“She plays extremely powerfully and fast so as soon as I let up in the second set she climbed on top of it straight away.

“I knew I had to make some adjustments in the third set so I’m really happy that I was able to work that out in the match and come through a tough one.”

Raducanu faces Martic, a former world number 14, in the third round as she looks to go deep in one of the biggest tournaments of the season.

The round of 32 match between Emma Raducanu and Petra Martic will take place on Sunday, March 13.

The time will be confirmed later on Saturday evening when the order of play is revealed.

Liudmila Samsonova or Danka Kovinic await the winner in the next round.

The Indian Wells clash will be the first ever meeting between the pair.
