Emi Buendia makes 'tough' Aston Villa admission as 'back stronger' claims made

Aston Villa playmaker Emi Buendia has commented on his turbulent first season at Villa Park as he reflects on the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.

Buendia, 26, arrived for a club record fee of £33 million last summer in the same window which saw Jack Grealish depart the club to Manchester City. The loss of their talisman would lead to a tough adjustment period for the club which in-turn resulted in a disrupted start for Buendia in claret and blue.

Despite not hitting the heights many hoped he would for the season, the Argentinians quality began to shine through under the guidance of Steven Gerrard. As he finished the season on four goals and six assists across the campaign, with four of the involvements arriving in the final six games of the season.

Buendia took to his personal twitter account to comment on his first campaign at his new club, where he said: "We finished a season that was tough at times but incredible at many others. I have really enjoyed Villa Park and I have been able to feel how special it is to play with these fans. It has been my first year and I’m so happy to be here.

"I have also had the incredible pride of marking my debut for my country. A dream come true. Now it's time to disconnect and come back stronger next season. Thank you all so much for the support - see you soon!"
