Elden Ring: Game made even harder with 'Survival' mod

Elden Ring is already one of the very hardest games on the market, given that it is made by From Software, who are known for the likes of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Demon’s Souls, so why not make it harder?

Kotaku reports that there is now a mod for the game on PC that actually makes the game all the more difficult by adding a Survival Mode.

The game has now been out for over three months and players have been hacking and slashing their way across the Lands Between.

But this new mod adds the nightmarish mechanics of hunger and thirst, region-specific diseases and nights that are so incredibly dark you’ll need a torch just to be able to see.

The mod comes from Scott ‘Grimrukh’ Mooney, who is a prolific Dark Souls modder.

The mod is actually described as a “charity commission” for the 2022 installment of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital charity drive, which has been organised by a Twitch personality named LobosJr.

Mooney asked LobosJr which kind of mod he should create and he was given the suggestion of a survival mod.

The hunger and thirst mechanics mean that food and drink items have to be crafted in order to keep you alive, while temperatures in the game can give you debuffs.

And there’s also the potential of different diseases destroying your HP bar, unless you can craft cures for them.

Add into that the new weapon tree system that means that players must craft their own implements for battle rather than buying them or finding them in the wild, and this just feels like the very worst thing you could add into Elden Ring if you want to survive.
