Ekiti Athletics Association picks 14 for South West Games
The Ekiti State Athletics Association on Thursday selected 14 athletes who would represent the state at the South West Alliance U-18 Games in Lagos from March 25 to March 29.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that the athletes were selected from a pool of about 100 athletes who stormed the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti, for the trials.
The seven male athletes selected are; Ojumu Ayomide, Esan Tosin, Oche Sunday, Adedayo Ayomikun, Sunday Ibitoye, Oluwaseun Oguntumibi and Victor Agbaje.

The female athletes that were selected are; Deborah Adeniyi, Ogundare Olajesu, Wura Oyebanji, Oyinloye Oyindamola, Adetomi Adebowale, Favour Saliu and Aregbesola Ayomide.
The athletes would feature in 100m, 200m, 4 x 100m all male and female and 4 x 400m mixed relay.
Addressing the athletes, Director, Individual Sports, Ekiti State Sports Commission, Adekunle Adewumi, commended them for their determination and resilience during the trials.

He said the results and their attitude towards the competition indicated their readiness to excel in forthcoming South West Games.
Adewumi assured them that those who made the final list were selected based on merit.
He advised those who failed to make the list not to be demoralised as there are many future opportunities to represent the state, and enjoined those selected to be disciplined and train hard to excel in Lagos.
In another development, the Ekiti Athletics Association has picked a new date to hold trials for the National Sports Festival.
The trials initially set for March19, will now hold on April 2, at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti.
