The popular female championship first held in October 2014 and is in its ninth year running, pausing briefly in 2020 due to the pandemic, is back rejuvenated and stronger.

With over 400 participants featuring athletes, referees, judges, coaches and management personnel from all over the country, the event is poised to expand its scope for better participation.

The event boasts of the very best competitors in this form of martial arts whose primary objective is to ensure that women are adequately equipped for self-defence, safety and security.

According to the founder, Hajiya Zainab Saleh, a top karateker herself, her passion, girl child protection, must not be limited to her emancipation in education and business but must also ensure her safety and security as well. She said the girl child must be able to protect herself physically, mentally, materially and in every other way.

This edition will feature prominent members of the Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN), and eminent karate referees, including Olusegun Akinola (seventh Dan), tournament director who is also the Chairman, of KFN and referees’ commission amongst other titles in the African Karate Federations (AKF).
