EFL expert predicts Steve Bruce wait will continue in West Brom v Blackburn clash

Sky Sports EFL pundit David Prutton has predicted that West Bromwich Albion will draw 2-2 with Blackburn Rovers on Monday evening meaning Steve Bruce’s wait for a first win as Baggies boss will continue.

Bruce was brought in as Valerien Ismael’s replacement after the Frenchman was sacked at the start of the month but has taken charge of Albion in just one game so far – the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Sheffield United in midweek.

Things don’t get much easier for West Brom as they welcome fellow promotion hopefuls Blackburn to The Hawthorns on Monday night.

Rovers have stuttered recently and are three games without a win but will be determined to get back on track in the West Midlands.

In his predictions for Sky Sports, Prutton has forecasted the points will be shared and the game will finish 2-2.

He said: “West Brom were beaten in Steve Bruce’s first game in charge at Sheffield United on Wednesday night. It is not the start he would have had in mind, and he has work to do to turn things around.

“Blackburn are also suffering a little blip. They are three without a win, but the biggest concern is that the goals have dried up as well. I’ll back them to get back on the scoresheet here, but not to get back on the winning trail.”

While it would not be bad point for either side, that result is unlikely to be enough for Albion to force their way back into the top six while it won’t help Blackburn return to the top two and may even allow QPR to leapfrog them into third place.

Bruce will be desperate to secure his first win as Albion boss, particularly given he’s not got much time to turn things around and kick-start their play-off push, but if Prutton is correct he’s going to have to be a little more patient.
