Edo Babes to lock horns with Nasarawa Amazons in BOWFT semifinals

West African champions, Edo Queens will meet Nasarawa Amazons in the first semifinal of the ongoing Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament (BOWFT), at the UNIBEN Sports Complex, while the second semifinal will pit Heartland Queens against Bayelsa Queens, at Western Boys High School. Both matches will kickoff by 10.00 a.m. today.

The four teams qualified for the semifinals after explosive quarterfinal matches yesterday.

In the first quarterfinal game, Nasarawa Amazons came from behind to beat Remo Ladies 2-1 in a game that started on Saturday and was concluded yesterday as the rains halted the first period at the University of Benin Sports Complex. The match officials were forced to postpone the match after 72 minutes on Saturday when the game stood at 1-1.

When it resumed yesterday at the same venue, the Amazons scored the winning goal to progress with a 2-1 victory.

The coast was easier for defending champions, Edo Queens, who bashed Abia Angels 4-0 at the University of Benin Sports Complex.

Former champions, Bayelsa Queens, who defeated Fortress Ladies of Benin 2-0, will meet Heartland Queens of Owerri, who beat Espor FC of Benin Republic 1-0, in the second semifinal at the Western Boys High School Mini Stadium.
