Ebbsfleet United’s Omari Sterling-James says leading scorer Dominic Poleon is in unstoppable form

Ebbsfleet’s Omari Sterling-James is glad leading scorer Dominic Poleon is on his side.

In-form Poleon missed last weekend’s defeat at Wealdstone while on international duty but is back for Ebbsfleet this Saturday as they host title favourites Chesterfield.

Poleon has scored in his last five National League outings, and Sterling-James admitted he must be a nightmare to play against.

“Dom’s a special talent, he’s lightning quick and such a goal threat,” said Sterling-James, who missed Saint Kitts and Nevis’ international games last week as he works his way back to full fitness. “At the moment you can’t stop him.

“He can get in behind any defences any which way, and if he doesn’t do that, he can get it to feet and run at you that way.

“You’ve seen different types of goals, against York it was getting behind them, at Barnet it was to feet and then scoring in the box.

“He knows where the back of the net is and there’s nothing better than having a striker in your team like that.

“As long as we’re playing well and he’s on form, then it’s happy days. If I was on the opposition then I’d hate it, I wouldn’t know what to do. So that’s the good thing that he’s on our team and not against us.

“It helps when you’ve got Dom scoring as many goals as he does. As long as we can stay in games and create chances, then if he gets his chance, he’s on red-hot form so keep giving him the ball.”
