Ebbsfleet United FC agree takeover with a consortium headed up by Dublin-based businessman John O’Leary
Ebbsfleet United have agreed a deal for new majority owners to take charge of the club.
Less than three weeks ago, the Fleet announced the board were exploring potential new investment into the club.
They’ve now announced that terms have been agreed between KEH Sports and a consortium of new private investors for the majority acquisition of Ebbsfleet United FC.
The new ownership group is led by Dublin-based businessman John O’Leary as the largest shareholder and head of the consortium which comprises a number of investors. The largest two of these are based in Ireland and India.
Head of the consortium John O’Leary said: “As a lifelong football supporter since playing youth football with my local side in Dublin, I have long held an ambition to be involved in club ownership.
“It’s extremely exciting to have agreed a deal in principle to lead a consortium as custodians of Ebbsfleet United into the future.
“While the approval and compliance process takes place with the FA and National League, we felt it important to provide supporters with an update of our intentions at the earliest opportunity.
“The Fleet have been in good hands for a number of years and are well set up for the season ahead. As such, we do not envisage any major changes in the day-to-day structure or operations in the foreseeable future.
“Rather, we plan for the eclectic skillset and enthusiasm of our consortium to add significant support and value to the club and CEO, particularly as Ebbsfleet United’s future centres around plans for greater non-football-related revenues, new infrastructure delivery and overall sustainability.”
The club state that “KEH Sports, who have owned the club for the past 12 years, will continue to actively support the new board
