Ebbsfleet United 0 Boston United 0 match report: National League bottom two play out goalless draw at Stonebridge Road

Ebbsfleet have now gone 332 minutes without a goal after failing to register against fellow strugglers Boston.

The National League’s bottom two went head-to-head at Stonebridge Road on Saturday but both sides lacked quality where it mattered as they played out a drab goalless draw.

Ebbsfleet made two changes from the side that lost 1-0 at home to Eastleigh on Wednesday night.

Todd Kane and Jack Wakely both started with Franklin Domi on the bench and no place in the 18 for defender Tyler Cordner.

Boston had an early shot through Jordan Richards which went wide of the upright but the visitors threatened very little thereafter in the opening half.

It was Ebbsfleet who grew into the game despite losing Ben Chapman to injury in the first 15 minutes. Pape Souare was a natural replacement down the left wing.

Boston keeper Aidan Stone saved Aaron Cosgrave’s early snapshot from an angle on 22 minutes.

Dylan Hall pulled back Jephte Tanga to earn a yellow card and present Ebbsfleet with a free-kick from 30 yards. Luke O’Neill’s strike on 35 minutes forced a good save from keeper Aidan Stone.

The Fleet forced six corners in the first half and one nearly provided the breakthrough on 38 minutes. Josh Wright’s delivery was flicked on by Rakish Bingham but Toby Edser was unable to direct his shot on target at the far post.

Then O’Neill headed over from another Wright delivery just before the break as Ebbsfleet ended the half in the ascendancy.

Boston had two early attempts on target in the second half. Jai Rowe’s rasping drive forced an excellent save from keeper Mark Cousins, before Jacob Hazel played in Sam Reed but his low effort lacked power.

There was a better chance for Lennon Wheeldon on the hour but he turned Hazel’s cross wide
