EastEnders star Michelle Collins shares supermarket mistake that left her 'violently sick'

Michelle Collins once had a rather unfortunate mix-up during lockdown, which left her "violently sick" after she mistook a daffodil for a spring onion.

The actress, 62, known for her role as Cindy Beale in EastEnders and currently part of the soap's 40th anniversary on BBC One, shared this culinary mishap while on a past Good Morning Britain interview.

Before her interview, Michelle had reacted to a news piece about a supermarket apologising for placing daffodils next to vegetables by tweeting: "Exactly what happened to me I ate one thinking it was a spring onion! I was violently sick after."

During her appearance on Good Morning Britain, she recounted the incident, saying: "Well I was doing these very silly cooking videos in lockdown and I was doing a stir fry. I went to the supermarket and brought home, what I thought, was a spring onion."

She continued: "Cooked it, chopped it up, put it in the wok, had a few tastes, the next thing - I was running to the loo and was violently, violently sick", reports Plymouth Live.

Ben Shephard, who was hosting at the time, remarked: "You made that mistake because they were close together, you mistook the daffodil for a spring onion?"

This revelation first came to light in February 2021 when Michelle disclosed on Instagram how she had confused daffodils with spring onions.
