Eagles happy to be back in Abuja, promise victory over Guinea Bissau

Members of the Super Eagles were all smiles, yesterday, in Abuja, as they met with media officials ahead of tomorrow’s African Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea Bissau.

It was their first meeting with the Nigerian public since the ill-fated Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier against Ghana at the MKO Abiola Stadium, where the players had to run for their lives after failing too pick the ticket.

The occasion was the press briefing ahead of tomorrow’s game, where Head Coach, Jose Peseiro, and the players told Nigerians what to expect from the match.

Looking ahead to a successful outing, Everton and Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi, said although he would make no promises as to the performance of the team, he assured that the team would give its best to ensure victory.

“We’re very confident that we have very good players. We are prepared to ensure that we do everything for success. We are going into the game in confident mode,” he said.

On approach to the game, Coach Peseiro noted that it was important for the team to be on constant attack, adding that they will ensure control of the game.

“What I can tell you is we have a good team; we have good players. You can improve a lot because you have enough time, which can be for improving our model, our offensive positions, defensive positions, and set pieces.

“Our team must attack every time. I think if you want to reach the top in Africa, you need to try to control the game. You cannot create one idea for the defender and the back and another for the attack,” he said.
