DWP reminder to millions of working parents who could get help with up to 85% of childcare cost

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has issued a reminder to working parents that they may be eligible to receive extra help with their childcare costs.

There's a wide variety of government support for working parents to help with childcare. Support is available regardless of whether you are caring for a toddler or a teen and could go a long way.

Depending on the age of your child and your financial conditions, you may be eligible to a wide range of support from free childcare to tax credits for childcare. Here's a breakdown of all the childcare cost support the DWP currently has available.

Working families, including self-employed, may be eligible to receive up to £2,000 per child per year. If you have a disabled child, you can receive up to £4,000 per child. In order to receive this, the parent and any partner must be over 16 and each expect to earn at least £152 per week - this is equal to 16 hours at the national minimum or living wage.

If you or your partners are on maternity/paternity leave, you can still be eligible for the support.

The Tax-Free Childcare can be used all year round to spend on regulated childcare such as childminders, nurseries, nannies, and school/holiday clubs.

There's a few varieties of free childcare available for working parents ranging from 15 hours to 30 hours. For children who are two years old, parents could receive 15 hours of free childcare or early education for 38 weeks.

For children aged three to four, parents can receive 15 hours of free childcare or early education for 38 weeks - this is available for all famillies in England. Meanwhile, parents can also receive 30 hours of free childcare for children
