Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson: WWE legend backs Molly McCann to become UFC champion

Dwayne Johnson has backed his new fighting friend Molly McCann to go on and achieve big things in the UFC.

The Rock and Meatball recently struck up an unlikely but equally wholesome friendship when the two discussed their signature finishing moves.

Now, the WWE legend is really rallying behind his new pal and supporting her career inside the Octagon.

Meatball clinched her last two UFC wins by executing a brutal spinning back elbow — similar to The Rock’s trademark ‘The People’s Elbow’ during his time on the canvas.

Their friendship bloomed when McCann tweeted Johnson asking if she could continue to ‘borrow’ his finisher.

“Excuse me Mr Rock, but can I keep borrowing the People’s Elbow? It’s doing me bits,” she wrote last month.

Johnson responded: “From the ELECTRIFYING People’s Elbow to the DEVASTATING People’s Meatbow. It’s all yours! Keep kicking a** and having FUN, champ!

“Much respect, Mr Rock.”

McCann had just come off the back of her latest win against Hannah Goldy, who she defeated with the same spinning back elbow she deployed on Luana Carolina back in March.

Prior to his retirement from professional wrestling in 2019, The Rock found plenty of success with his iconic move.

After a glittering career, it seems Johnson is now looking to channel his success through his newfound UFC friend. During his time inside the ring, he won eight WWE Championships, nine Slammy Awards, and was named as PWI’s Most Popular Wrestler of the Year in 1999 and 2000.

His acting career has also brought him mountains of success. The 50-year-old has appeared in films including Jumanji, Moana, and the Fast & Furious franchise.
