Dustin Poirier is one of the biggest stars in the UFC Lightweight division, but when will the ‘Diamond’ be competing again?

Poirier is looking to build on back-to-back wins against Conor McGregor, as he hopes to eventually get another shot at the 155-pound gold.

The MMA veteran will actually be competing next after a new Lightweight Champion is determined at UFC 280 when Charles Oliveira looks to regain the belt he lost on the scales against Islam Makhachev

Poirier is set to return to the octagon to face Michael Chandler as part of the Main Card of UFC 281.

Speaking to Heavy Sports(via MMAJunkie), Poirier revealed that he had hoped the contest from Madison Square Garden on Saturday, November 12th 2022 would’ve been scheduled for five rounds.

He said: “I really wanted to do a five-round fight  Especially for me, I like to get a rhythm and a timing, and I feel like the better fighter. Unless something happens early in one of the first couple of rounds, the better fighter usually wins in the distance.

“He’s a former (Bellator) world champion. He’s one of the best 155-pounders in the world, so he’s a very, very tough opponent. If it’s Fight of the Year, that means it’s back-and-forth. I’d like it to be clean, one-sided if I could paint the perfect picture.

“But I don’t shy away from those firefights. I’m going to try my best to stay calm under fire and technical, but if he competes to the best of his ability, and I do the same, it could be Fight of the Century.”

This should be a fantastic battle in the UFC’s 155-pound
