Driver of Jaguar who 'lost control' before car mounted pavement and killed man released on bail
The driver of a Jaguar who 'lost control' before his car mounted a pavement and killed a man in his 40s has been released on bail, police have confirmed.
The horrific crash happened on Chew Moor Lane in the Westhoughton area of Bolton at around 6.45pm on Monday (October 28). Greater Manchester Police said the driver of a blue Jaguar XE was 'overtaking another vehicle' before they 'appeared to lose control'.
The vehicle then struck the victim, a pedestrian in his 40s. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.

In an update, Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that the driver - a man aged in his 20s - who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, has since been released on bail.
After the crash, a huge emergency services presence descended on the scene. A stretch of the road was cordoned off with a blue evidence tent erected behind the police tape.
In the days that have followed, floral tributes have been left at the scene. Investigations into the collision remain ongoing, with any witnesses still being urged to contact Greater Manchester Police.
A force spokesperson said: "Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
"They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell footage, from the area in the moments leading up to the collision."
