Drew McIntyre speaks out on fans negative reaction to WrestleMania clash

Drew McIntyre has spoken out about the negative reaction to his match with Happy Corbin at WrestleMania 38.

The Scottish Warrior has competed for the WWE Championship at the past two WrestleMania events and fans had been fantasy booking his path to another big ‘Mania event ever since his return at The Royal Rumble. 

Yet, the former WWE Champion has continued his rivalry with Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss, culminating in McIntyre finally getting his hands on Corbin at WrestleMania. A match that gained some criticism amongst WWE fans. 

In an interview with Metro.co.uk, the 36-year-old believes fans are not being honest with themselves if they don’t recognise how talented his WrestleMania opponent is. 

I’m very excited about it, personally. I’ve seen some of the comments when the match was made, the internet can be very harsh place.

I appreciate all my fans around the world, their reaction is, ‘Drew’s not wrestling for the title? He won the title from Brock two years along, he fought for the title last year, this year he’s fighting Corbin?!’

I understand that and I appreciate that, but the way I see it is, aside from his obvious talent in the ring – anyone who says he’s not talented in-ring is lying to themselves.

Drew went into further detail on the reaction from fans online and shared his goal for the match, and any future bouts that are questioned. 

“My goal in the future is to make sure that prior to the match people are like, “This is gonna be good!” Rather than afterwards saying it was amazing! That’s the goal in the future – remember when you’re insulting my match, you’re insulting me as well“
