‘Dreadful...’ - Pearce can't believe what he saw from LFC star who only won 3 duels all night

Journalist James Pearce described Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson as ‘dreadful’ in his side’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s men suffered their first league defeat of 2022 on Monday night, producing a hapless performance against their under-fire rivals at Old Trafford.

Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford got the goals for United, with Mohamed Salah’s late header proving to be nothing more than a consolation for the Reds.

There were endless poor performers for Liverpool, from Virgil van Dijk to James Milner, but it was another iconic modern-day figure who was focused on by Pearce.

Taking the Twitter, the journalist bemoaned Henderson’s involvement in Rashford’s goal, as the skipper fired a wayward touch to no one, which was picked up and pounced on by the hosts:

This was a display from Henderson that further proves that his best days are behind him, with the 32-year-old not doing nearly enough in the No.6 role in place of Fabinho.

According to Sofascore, the Liverpool skipper, who was the first man withdrawn by Klopp, made no interceptions and lost possession a total of ten times, as well as only completing 79% of his passes in his 59 minutes. His positional sense was poor throughout and his lack of dynamism was clear to see, winning just three duels – to put that into perspective, Scott McTominay won seven.

Henderson wasn’t the only bad performer, but the midfield is surely now beyond repair without a new signing, with the captain and Milner past their best, and the likes of Thiago and Naby Keita constantly injured.
