Popular rapper Drake lost a huge $275,000 bet after gambling on Jorge Masvidal to beat Colby Covington at UFC 272.

The odds for Drake's specific bet were unclear, but Covington started a general 2/7 favourite with Masvidal the 5/2 underdog.

Given those odds, Drake would have earned close to $1million from his original bet had Masvidal pulled off the upset against his bitter rival.

In the video of the award-winning rapper, he can be seen placing the massive stake on Masvidal watching the UFC 272 broadcast on his laptop.

But it wasn't to be as Covington outpointed his former teammate over five rounds by using his superior wrestling to get the nod with scores of 49-46, 50-44 and 50-45.

Masvidal admitted it was one of his worst performances and the personal insults he traded with Covington before the fight made the loss hard to swallow.

And Covington, who is targeting a fight with Masvidal's teammate Dustin Poirier next, mocked Drake for losing the six-figure bet at the post-fight press conference.

"Let's talk about all the money that Drake lost tonight, he needs to go back to selling those s***** albums to get back the money," Covington said.

"He should have went to America's pick of the week by my bookie, I'm America's champ and I was America's pick of the week. Drake you suck at sports betting go back to your s***** little albums and rapping."
