Doctor who lied about being BANNED from teaching went on to sexually harass pupil at new school

A maths teacher who lied about being banned from teaching to become employed at a new school - where he later sexually harassed a pupil - has now been struck off indefinitely.

Dr Tariq Majid Qureshi, 61, of Sheader Drive, Salford, was temporarily employed at St Anne’s RC High School in Stockport for three months - despite previously being banned from teaching for inappropriate conduct at a school in Bolton.

During his employment there, he committed a string of sexually motivated offences against a pupil, reports Cheshire Live.

The offences included kissing the pupil on the head and sliding his hand under the table to touch their leg.

The pupil said that Dr Qureshi had described them as 'his favourite'. He was also said to have called them 'beautiful and gorgeous or words to that effect' and touched the pupil on the leg with his hand.

The pupil also claimed that Dr Qureshi had squeezed their face, hugged them and kissed them on the head.

Dr Qureshi was escorted off the school premises on the same day the allegations were made, with his employment later coming to an end.

A police investigation discovered that the teacher had 'behaved similarly' whilst employed at another school.

In January 2020, Dr Qureshi faced five charges of sexual assault at Minshull Street Crown
