'Do you know where your children are? I'm working flat out but I don't have a magic wand'

A councillor from Bolton went on a social media rant after to a spate of antisocial behaviour incidents that saw youths running riot across Little Lever.

Coun Andrea Taylor-Burke said that the latest incident saw a bin set alight in the Memorial Garden on Saturday night (March 2) - but added the surge in antisocial crime has left her at her 'wits end'.

The conservative councillor for Little Lever and Darcy Lever shared a post to her Facebook page, asking parents: "Do you know where your children are?"

Coun Taylor-Burke added that she is currently 'working flat out' to get a youth hub opened for children and teenagers in the area to try and put a stop to the incidents, which also included damaging properties and being abusive towards customers and staff at a nearby Tesco supermarket.

She wrote: "So last night yet another incident happened. A bin was set on fire on the memorial garden. Fire brigade called, put out, luckily no one hurt. Now left with a melted bin that will cost to replace! I am really getting to a point where I am at my wits end.

"Do you know where your children are?? I know exactly where mine are all the time but I also know they would never damage property. I get messages all the time saying I need to sort it.... how?? Give me your suggestions? Sick of being told I'm not doing anything. I'm working flat out to get a youth hub opened but like everything with the council it takes forever."

Coun Taylor-Burke explained she had engaged in meetings with youth services and Bolton lads and girls club, with youth engagement work to commence over the coming weeks, but urged parents to address the behaviour
