DIY lovers left gobsmacked after finding out hidden feature for special tool

Social media has once again proven to be a treasure trove of knowledge, especially for those with a penchant for learning quirky facts.

On X, previously known as Twitter, users had their minds blown by the actual use of the hole in a 'special' key.

The eye-opening DIY detail was shared by the widely followed Today Years Old account, which boasts a following of 1 million. The intriguing post posed the question: "How old were you when you discovered what this is for? " The tweet quickly went viral, amassing an impressive 1.6 million views, receiving over 7,500 likes, and prompting a flood of comments.

An accompanying video reveals that this particular key is traditionally utilised in carpentry to create circular holes in wood, with the hole playing a crucial role. It allows for the insertion of a pin, effectively turning the key into a compass for sketching flawless circles

This DIY revelation highlighted the unexpected versatility of the key, as demonstrated by someone crafting what might just be the most perfect circle you've ever seen, thanks to this feature. Judging by the reaction, it was clear that many were taken aback, as numerous comments expressed surprise at not having known this sooner.

One individual declared: "Well, it was today. So that's how old I was." While another admitted: "About 15 seconds into this video." Someone else joined in, confessing: "To be honest, today only learnt."

A fourth contributor also remarked: "My age as of this very moment! I never knew about this." And yet another person voiced their astonishment too, saying: "What? No way!"

Indeed, it proves that one is never too old to discover new things.
