Dimitar Berbatov snubs Man City as he names Man United as one of two teams who can win league

Former striker Dimitar Berbatov has said that either Manchester United or Chelsea will win the Premier League title this season.

United, who will get their campaign up and running at home to Wolves next Monday night, finished a respectable third last term, meaning they will have ambitions of kicking on and making further progress in their second season under Erik ten Hag. He restored standards last term and gave United a much-needed identity again.

Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping to have a similar impact at Chelsea. The Londoners finished 12th last season, a whopping 27 points short of the top four, meaning they have a lot of improving to do if they are to even qualify for the Champions League.

Berbatov believes the Blues could be in the mix this season, citing them and United as his picks for the title.

"I won't say Manchester City again," Berbatov told Betfair. "I obviously want Manchester United to win the Premier League title.

"I think the Premier League champions will be Manchester United or Chelsea. I love the underdog story with Chelsea, especially when you don't see it coming.

"I like Pochettino as a coach, too, I want to see him succeed in England with a trophy."

For United to win the title this forthcoming season, though it is not impossible, it will require a huge push, not least to try and dislodge Manchester City from their perch. Many anticipate that United will mount another top-four push.
