Dimitar Berbatov gives verdict on Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Erik ten Hag's Manchester United future

Former striker Dimitar Berbatov is hopeful that Sir Jim Ratcliffe's investment in Manchester United will bring stability to Old Trafford, adding that he expects Erik ten Hag to finish the season as manager.

Ratcliffe's 25 per cent stake in the club was confirmed on Christmas Eve, finally bringing an end to a saga that had gone on for more than 12 months. The deal is now awaiting ratification from the Premier League.

Ratcliffe's arrival at Old Trafford will see him gain control of all football-related operations at the club. It is hoped that Ratcliffe will improve the club's on-field performance and success rate in the transfer market.

Ten Hag's future continues to attract speculation and debate, with United's campaign so far proving underwhelming. The Dutchman is not completely blameless for the Reds' performances this term.

And for Berbatov, he hopes Ratcliffe will bring a much-needed sense of stability to M16, insisting the prospect of correct decisions being made at the top should trickle down onto the playing surface.

Berbatov, speaking to Betfair, said: "Jim Ratcliffe has taken 25 per cent of Manchester United, and I hope for stability with him. That's the right word.

"With stability, everyone knows what they're doing and they're taking the right decisions in every department. That will reflect on the pitch as well.

"I'm not too quick to jump with joy at the takeover, I prefer to wait and see what will happen. Everyone believes it's a great move for the club, so let's hope for the best and that stability will come with the takeover.
