Dillian Whyte signs contract after long delay to confirm Tyson Fury showdown

Dillian Whyte has now signed his contract to confirm his WBC heavyweight title showdown against Tyson Fury, according to reports.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren successfully won the purse bid to host the fight at the end of January in what is set to be ‘The Gypsy King’s first fight back in the UK since 2018.

But Whyte has remained silent since it was announced he will receive just 20 per cent of the fight purse – said to be worth £6m with Fury to bank £25m.

With a deadline expiring on Monday, Whyte has now signed his half of the contract for the fight, according to Sky Sports.

Fury has persistently goaded his British rival in recent weeks, accusing Whyte of asking for money to attend press conferences and promote the fight.

‘I just heard that little sausage Dillian Whyte wants paying to turn up for a press conference,’ Fury said in a video shared on his social media accounts.

‘You little silly fat sausage, you’re getting that [a fist], you coward.’

On Monday morning with the deadline looming, he bellowed on social media: ‘Today’s the final day for signing the contract, you big dosser. So get it signed, s***house, or move on. Jog on you muppet! Come on son! Get out the way, stiff arse!’

Fury vs Whyte must take place before the end of April with 23 April a likely date.

Cardiff’s Principality Stadium is the front runner to host the showdown – although Wembley Stadium has also been considered.
