Dias picks Carson over Man City No 1 Ederson in dream five-a-side team

Ruben Dias has controversially picked Scott Carson ahead of Ederson in his dream Manchester City five-a-side team - despite the backup goalkeeper only making one appearance in two-and-a-half years at the club.

Ederson, 28, is widely considered one of the best goalkeepers in world football after becoming a key player for Pep Guardiola's three-time Premier League champions.

When City stormed to the title last season, the Brazilian shot-stopper claimed his second Golden Glove award after keeping an impressive 19 clean sheets.

However, his solid form in between the sticks has still not earned him a place in Dias's ultimate five-a-side lineup. 

Instead, the City defender has chosen Carson - the 36-year-old with one appearance under his belt in 30 months - as his first-choice goalkeeper. 

When asked by Record why he made the eye-opening decision, Dias said: 'Ede's in my heart, but I'll go with Scott. I will go with Scott Carson.

'He's the champion of five-a-sides, when you're in his team, you win.'

Opting for Carson instead of Ederson wasn't the only controversial move Dias made, as he also left out star midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.

The Belgian has been back to his brilliant best for City this term, scoring six goals and recently firing home a sensational long-range winner against Chelsea.

But there is no room for him in the team, with Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan instead preferred in the middle of the park.

Joao Cancelo is also deployed at the back alongside the man himself.
