Devils avoid arbitration with Bratt on one-year, $5.45M deal

The New Jersey Devils re-signed forward Jesper Bratt on a one-year, $5.45 million contract on Wednesday, avoiding arbitration.

Bratt, a restricted free agent, was scheduled to have his arbitration hearing with New Jersey later on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old appeared in 76 games last season, scoring 26 goals and registering 73 points for the New Jersey Devils.

Last season was a big step forward for the young winger, as his previous career high for points in a season was 35 in his rookie year. He had scored 31 goals combined in the three seasons preceding the 2021-22 campaign.

He is coming off a two-year, $5.5 million contract, which held an average annual value of $2.75 million. The Stockholm, Sweden native has 70 goals and 203 points in 307 career NHL games.

Bratt was taken 162nd overall in the 2016 NHL Draft by the Devils, and made his debut for the team the following season. He has played all five years of his NHL career with the Devils.
