Dermot O'Leary says 'I can't wait' as he gets new job away from This Morning

Dermot O'Leary has said he 'can't wait' to get started as he lands his won show away from This Morning. The presenter has been one of the ITV daytime show's main hosts for a couple of years and also hosts his own show on BBC Radio 2.

But it's now been revealed that Dermot's set to take on another TV role as he is set to embark on a brand new adventure as part of an all-new ITV commission, Dermot’s Taste of Ireland for ITV1 and ITVX.

The five-part series, made by Rock Oyster Media, will take the much-loved presenter back to his family roots in the Emerald Isle on a gastronomic tour, to discover the island of Ireland’s best-kept delicious secrets.

From traditional Irish stew to soda bread, fresh seafood, and boxty potato pancakes - Dermot will taste his way across the island, meeting the chefs and locals that champion and celebrate Ireland’s gastronomic heritage.

Having opened two of his own fish-themed restaurants and sharing some of his favourite home recipes on This Morning, he is now taking his passion on the road whilst exploring Ireland’s ancient landscapes, diverse cities and stunning coastlines.

From Michelin Star restaurants in the in the ‘Gourmet Capital of Ireland’ Kinsale; to fishing for oysters by the sea in Cork; sitting down for some home-grown comfort food in Wexford; and exploring the buzz of the Dublin food scene; before venturing across to Northern Ireland and the bustling city of Belfast and beyond - ITV say Dermot’s Taste of Ireland "promises to be a foodie delight, full of surprises."
