Dermot McElroy's good start undone by quadruple bogey in Kenya

England's John Parry and Frenchman Benjamin Hebert carded opening round 63s to take a first-round lead at the Magical Kenya Open.

Parry has been in fine form in 2025 and his flawless eight-under round was matched by Herbet, who made six birdies and an eagle.

South Africa's Jayden Schaper also avoided any bogeys and sits a shot back on seven-under par.

It was a memorable Thursday for Englishman Eddie Pepperell who made a hole in one at the 218-yard 11th.

It was a tough opening day for Irish pair Conor Purcell and Dermot McElroy.

Purcell endured a bumpy front nine with a pair of bogeys either side of a double on the eighth.

He did improve on the way in with eight pars and his sole birdie of the day at the last to sit on three-over par.

FULL LEADERBOARD

McElroy is two shots further back on five-over after his round fell apart.

The Ballymena man, who started on the 10th, was sitting on two-under par as he moved onto the fourth hole, his 13th.

A quadruple bogey sent him scattering down the leaderboard with a further three dropped shots ruining what had been a promising round.
