Derby County dealt transfer blow

Derby County have been dealt a blow by the news that they will be unable to sign any free agents before the season ends, as per a recent report by Derbyshire Live.

It had previously been hoped that Wayne Rooney would be able to bring in some extra bodies in order to aid his side’s fight for survival in the Sky Bet Championship, however it now appears that he won’t get that chance.

The Rams remain under a transfer embargo and until a preferred bidder to buy the club is named, the club has no chance of even being able to make attempts to bring in more players.

Speaking about the news recently, Rooney was quick to state the following over any suggestions that the troubled Midlands outfit could bring in some new faces:

“I can’t bring players in, I’ve already been informed of that by the EFL, that’s as far as I am aware.”

This means that Derby will have to make do with what they have for the time being, with their recent defeat to Millwall having also seen their hopes of staying up take a massive hit.

Rooney’s side remain eight points from safety at the time of writing.

The Verdict

There was always a chance that this problem would come about and as a result Rooney will simply have to suck it up and deal with it.

The takeover is still far from being completed and the longer it drags on the more the club is being held back.

A solution really needs to be found soon otherwise the problems at Pride Park could worsen.

The club is very much in limbo and it is an understandably tough situation for everyone to be in as news and updates are sought over what the future may hold for this historic club.
