Delta Queens hit Malawi’s Brave 17-0 in Africa Club Hockey Championships

Face Ghana tomorrow

Nigeria’s representative in the 2023 Africa Club Hockey Championships, Delta Queens Hockey team, begin their campaign on a good note Saturday afternoon, beating the host, Braves of Malawi 17-0.

Delta Queens, who left Lagos on Wednesday with 18 players, three coaches and other officials, will face their West African neighbours, Ghana, in their second match on Sunday by 1pm.

In yesterday’s match against the Malawian Brave in Blantyre, Delta Queens scored 9-0 in the first half and added 8 goals in the second half.

Delta Queens coach Ade Jacobs said they will give to Ghana the same treatment melted to Malawi in Sunday’s game.

Leader of delegation, Delta Queens Hockey to Malawi, Director General of Delta Sports Commission, Chris Anazia, told The Guardian that the team is eyeing a podium finish in the tournament, which will end on November 26.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Delta Sports Commission, chief Tonobok Okowa commended the players and their coaches for a job well done.
