Dele Alli rocked by fresh criticism as Stan Collymore makes outlandish retirement claim for Everton loanee

Dele Alli has been told to consider early retirement if he does not buck his ideas up and force his way into the Everton starting line-up.

Dele, 25, spent plenty of time on the bench at Tottenham during the first half of the campaign. He found the net just once in 10 Premier League matches for the north London outfit.

The midfielder knew he had no future under Antonio Conte and therefore pushed for a loan exit in January.

Everton came calling and, with Frank Lampard’s blessing, brought Dele in to bolster their squad.

The Englishman was excited to play under one of his nation’s best ever midfielders in Lampard. But the move has not gone to plan so far.

Dele is yet to play a full 90 minutes for the Toffees. And he has also failed register a goal contribution in six matches.

The player has come in for plenty of criticism in recent years due to his sub-par performances. However, Stan Collymore’s latest verdict will be particularly damning for him.

The pundit thinks Dele should think about retiring from the sport if he cannot get his career back on track.

“Dele needs to answer some serious questions, for himself, no one else,” Collymore wrote in his column for the Daily Mirror. “He has to ask: do you want to play professional football, or are you not cut out for it?

“Dele may decide he doesn’t love it anymore. Go and find something you are passionate about, and don’t cheat the game by going on a circus around other Premier League clubs.

“He’d be cheating the fans, clubs and managers. He’s gone from the next golden midfielder in Europe, to people asking if he is still a Premier League player. The answers can only come from Dele.
