"Definitely interested" - talkSPORT reporter drops big Everton transfer claim on £50k-p/w star

Everton are “definitely interested” in signing Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

The £50,000 per-week England international has slipped down the pecking order in north London and might have played his last game for his boyhood club.

Winks was once a key player at Tottenham and a nailed on starter under Mauricio Pochettino, but his game-time has been extremely limited in the last two seasons, with the 26-year-old making just 18 league starts during that period.

As a result, Spurs are prepared to sell the midfielder this summer as Antonio Conte looks to revamp his squad ahead of their return to the Champions League.

And according to the Daily Mail, Frank Lampard is keen on linking up with Winks, less than six months after signing his ex-teammate Dele Alli.

But the report states that while Tottenham are hoping to sell Winks on a permanent basis for a fee of around £20m, the Toffees’ financial problems could force them into taking him on loan.

Regardless, Crook reckons that he would be a shrewd piece of business by Lampard and confirmed Everton’s interest in the England star.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Harry Winks, reasonably cheap, good lad, good professional. I think he would be a good signing for anybody, and Everton are definitely interested.”

Judging by how Alli has fared since he made the switch in January, you could argue that Winks might want to avoid moving to Goodison Park, although his lack of an impact might be down to himself more than anything else.
