"Definitely fits the bill" - Journalist hints at Leeds swoop for "talented" 6 ft 3 colossus

Leeds United transfer target Timo Hubers ‘definitely fits the bill’ as head coach Jesse Marsch looks to make Elland Road more of a fortress next season, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Marsch took charge of the Whites in February, just 24 hours after Marcelo Bielsa was sacked, and he may look to use the summer window to put his stamp on the squad he inherited.

According to MailOnline, Leeds are one of numerous Premier League sides tracking Koln central defender Hubers.

The report suggests Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, West Ham United, Southampton and Fulham – who have already earned their spot in the top flight by sealing promotion from the Championship – are also monitoring the 6’3 colossus’ situation, with £6million understood to be enough to strike a deal.

Widespread interest has come with Hubers set to enter the final 12 months of his Koln contract, meaning his current employers may see the summer as the perfect opportunity to cash-in rather than potentially seeing him walk away for nothing at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

However, in an interview with Kicker, via LeedsLive, the 25-year-old has hinted that he is happy in his homeland of Germany and has enjoyed Koln’s high-risk tactics this season.

Hubers only joined Koln on a free transfer from Hannover last summer, but he has gone on to establish himself as a regular starter at the heart of the Bundesliga side’s backline since mid-December.

The journalist feels welcoming the German to Elland Road could solve a major problem Leeds have faced this season.
