Declan Rice could solve long-term Liverpool 'problem' as summer striker decisions await

I thought it was a high quality match between arguably two of the top-five sides in European football currently.

The late withdrawal of Thiago wasn’t helpful and I felt it definitely unsettled us in the early stages, but as we adapted to the late change to the starting XI, I felt we gained an element of control and created some excellent chances (as did Chelsea to be fair), but I felt we tired and probably had settled for a shoot-out come the second period of extra-time.

It's great to win trophies and this current side deserves to add a fair few more titles to the ones they’ve already won. Granted it’s the least important of the four trophies on offer at the start of the season, but you can’t win the 'quad' without the League Cup!
