Dean Henderson news: Bournemouth and Fulham battling to acquire Man Utd backup’s services

Newly promoted sides Bournemouth and Fulham are competing with one another to acquire the services of Dean Henderson for the upcoming season.

Henderson has been very much out of favour this season due to David De Gea’s incredible form for Manchester United throughout the campaign.

The English goalkeeper has only amassed three first-team appearances so far this campaign despite becoming first choice towards the end of last season.

Sunsport, however, have reported that Henderson is likely to leave Manchester United on a temporary basis this summer.

Both Bournemouth and Fulham are rumoured to be interested in signing Henderson after securing promotion to the Premier League.

The Red Devils have also been reported to be willing to cover half if not more of his wages whilst out on loan.

Bournemouth’s goalkeeper Mark Travers and Fulham’s Marek Rodak may feel a bit out of sorts when hearing this news. This is because each appear in the top five for Championship clean sheets this season.

Travers came through the Cherries academy and the 2021/22 season was his first as the starting goalkeeper.

Man Utd may look to bring in new second- and third-choice goalkeepers in the summer. They do not however want to lose Henderson on a permanent basis, Sunsport reports.

Since his successful campaigns at Sheffield United between 2018 and 2020, the goalkeeper hasn’t managed to find his form.

He has been dropped out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad and is reportedly looking for a move ahead of the Qatar World Cup this November.

A move to a team such as Bournemouth or Fulham would be beneficial to Henderson. He would gain some much needed first-team minutes.
