Dean Henderson joins Nottingham Forest on loan as Manchester United strike wage agreement

Nottingham Forest will cover Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson's £110,000 weekly wages during his season-long loan.

Forest do not have an option to buy Henderson, 25, and he will not be able to play against United in the Premier League. United midfielder James Garner enjoyed a successful loan with newly-promoted Forest last season.

United have confirmed the departure of Henderson after he played only three games last season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

United were also unconvinced by the option of accepting Karl Darlow in a loan exchange involving Henderson. Newcastle had offered Martin Dubravka to United in a mooted loan swap involving Henderson in January but Dubravka rejected the proposal.

Henderson is contracted to United until 2025, with the option of an additional year, which has made a permanent move prohibitive. Forest is the sixth loan move of his career.

New United manager Erik ten Hag was keen to loan in Henderson in January when he was Ajax manager but David de Gea was always expected to start next season for United as Henderson has agitated to leave for several months.
