Dean Henderson achieves remarkable feat after impressive Nottingham Forest showing

Dean Henderson put together another solid performance on Sunday and became the first goalkeeper to save a penalty from Harry Kane in four years.

Tottenham went into the second-half a goal up after Kane opened the scoring, and look to go two ahead when Steve Cook bizarrely handled the ball in the area.

Kane stepped up and sent what appeared to be a well-struck penalty to the corner, but Henderson read it well and got a strong hand to it to deny the England skipper - the first to do so from the spot since 2018 when former Liverpool keeper Loris Karius denied him.

It came just weeks after Henderson also denied Declan Rice from the spot, diving to the same corner in the bottom right.

Henderson has been one of the better performing goalkeepers in the league so far, and has been praised throughout his first four games for Forest, where he'll spend the season on loan.

Speaking after the game, Kane revealed he has practised penalties against Henderson for England and insinuated that he believes it was a poor penalty and praised the Man Utd loanee.

Speaking in his post-game interview to Sky Sports, he said: "I’ve practised a lot against Dean with England and a lot during the week being focused on what to do with the penalty. It was a nice height for him, I usually like to go low or high and that was in middle.

"I was trying to go high and didn’t quite connect how I wanted to. Fair play, it was a good save and we had a laugh about it. He told me he’d been analysing my penalties in the week. It was a great save, he’s a really good shot-stopper.

"He played fantastic for them. Thankfully it didn’t matter for us as I wouldn’t have been smiling!"
