'Deal is there to be done' - West Ham insider makes big striker claim as price drops by £20m

As per West Ham United insider Claret & Hugh, there has been a promising update on the club’s links to Everton star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Near the end of January, West Ham and manager David Moyes became linked with an audacious move for the Toffees forward.

A report from The Sun’s Alan Nixon claimed West Ham are interested in the 25-year-old and Moyes ‘would really push the boat out’ in a ‘major bid’ to bring him to the London Stadium.

Nixon, recently publishing a follow-up to the story, says the Irons have maintained their interest past the winter window – coming as the Goodison Park club make a decision to ‘cash in’ on Calvert-Lewin this year.

Now, sharing an update, C&H have dropped a promising claim.

The Irons insider, sharing a message from one of their Everton sources, back that Moyes and co are keeping close tabs on the England striker – coming as his price drops from £80 million around a year ago to £60 million now.

A Merseyside informant with knowledge of the situation allegedly explained to C&H:

“West Ham know all about Dominic and they also know Everton are having to be more realistic about his valuation.

“They have scouted him extensively and there is a feeling a deal is there to be done. He’s at a good age and David Moyes is a fan.”

While Calvert-Lewin’s form has dipped somewhat this season, which could be put down to fitness issues, there is little arguing that he could fit the bill for West Ham going by his homegrown status and quality in recent seasons.

He bagged an impressive 16 goals in 32 Premier League starts under former Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti last season, all whilst attempting more shots per 90 (2.5) than any player in their squad (WhoScored).
