Deadline for cheaper Amazon Prime revealed as subscription price set to rise

Amazon Prime customers will soon see their monthly and annual subscription prices rise. Amazon has said it's the first rise in the UK since 2014 but the hike will be a blow for many following the cost of living crisis.

Britons may now be looking to cancel their streaming subscription because of the £1 monthly increase which Amazon says is due to "increased inflation and operating costs." It comes after other services like Netflix have also increased subscription prices due to increasing costs.

Amazon Prime offers customers Amazon Music, Video and unlimited free delivery and next-day deliver on thousands of products. It also holds special sale days for Prime customers only, like Amazon Prime Day.

Those who may now want to cancel their subscription still have time to benefit from the cheaper price though. Amazon has said that the new price change won't come into effect until September.

Monthly subscriptions will go up £1 to £8.99 and annual membership will increase from £79 to £95, from September, or at the customer's next membership renewal date. Those who don't wish to pay the increased bill can either switch to an annual plan or cancel their membership - but there are other options too.
