David Prutton reveals potential key factors why Jesse Lingard opted for Forest switch

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder David Prutton has praised the pulling power of manager Steve Cooper following Jesse Lingard's recent arrival at the City Ground.

Lingard, 29, has signed a one-year-deal with the Reds and follows impressive additions Harry Toffolo, Lewis O'Brien and Dean Henderson through the door.

Given the former Man Utd midfielder's impressive top-flight pedigree, Prutton has insisted their is more than one facet to explain how Forest managed to make the move happen.

''I'm sure deals like this breakdown in several different ways,'' began the Sky Sports pundit earlier today. The figures that we're reading and hearing vary from £80,000-a-week to adding another £100,000-a-week on top of that, that's just the nature of the beast. I know especially with what's going on in today's day and age that these figures are astronomical and lurid if you like, but that's what football is in certain degrees.

''That's part of the package and I don't think you can come away with thinking about Steve Cooper. He's a fantastic coach, he's developed a lot of young players, he's got a lot of time for older players and he admires and respects experience. He's not scared of playing with players that are a little longer in the tooth,'' added Prutton.

''With Jesse Lingard and what we saw at West Ham, was a fantastic footballer that just reminded everybody what he can do, he reminded those people that thought he had fallen away. He is a special player and Forest do have a special player on their hands, if, and it's a big if, he gets to that type of form we saw at West Ham and earlier on in his career to help ignite Forest's consolidation push to remain in the Premier League.''
