David Prutton makes prediction ahead of Sheffield United’s trip to Stoke City

David Prutton has backed Sheffield United to pick up all three points at Stoke City this afternoon.

The Blades have enjoyed a remarkable turnaround under Paul Heckingbottom since his appointment, with the team going into today’s game sitting in the play-off places and firmly in the hunt for promotion.

And, writing in his regular Sky Sports column, pundit Prutton has gone for a 1-0 win for the Yorkshire side against Michael O’Neill’s inconsistent Potters outfit.

A 2-0 success over Millwall last time out was Stoke’s first win in nine, so it’s a fixture that the Blades will feel they can get a victory from.

However, one potential concern for Heckingbottom will be the recent displays from his team on the road, as they have failed to win in their past four away games, which includes two defeats.

But, they will be boosted by the return of several senior players at the Bet365 Stadium, with Billy Sharp, George Baldock and John Fleck among those ready to play after injury concerns.

Sheffield United won the reverse fixture 2-1 at Bramall Lane back in October.

The verdict

Many will agree with Prutton’s prediction here, as the Blades have more to play for than Stoke and they have a quality side when everyone is fit.

Nevertheless, a trip to the Potters is never going to be easy and you wouldn’t be surprised if it was decided by a single goal as it should be a close game.

With so much at stake in the battle for the top six, it’s down to Heckingbottom’s men to step up now as they look for a return to the Premier League.
