David Moyes eyes familiar face for West Ham to potentially compound problems at Everton

West Ham manager David Moyes is eyeing a swoop for Everton centre-back Michael Keane, potentially worsening the Toffees’ problems.

Everton are in a tough spot at present. They currently sit just one place above the Premier League relegation places, and the prospect of the drop is looming. Of course, they will want to avoid such a fate. But a tough run of fixtures – including Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal – does not make things easy.

Should they be relegated, it will be the first time that has happened to them since the 1950/51 season. The long run in the top flight will be something they will want to maintain for a number of obvious reasons.

A number of star players could leave Goodison Park, should they drop out of the Premier League. Amid an apparent financial crisis, getting big wages off the books will be important.

West Ham are reportedly planning on offering a Toffees man a route back into the top flight in the case of relegation. The Daily Star reports that David Moyes is keen on adding centre-back Michael Keane to his side.

Keane has missed just four games for Everton this term, and is clearly a key asset.

He and Moyes shared a period together at Manchester United, and it seems the manager is an admirer of the centre-back. The report states that the 12-cap England international would cost in the region of £20million.

That sum should not be too much of a problem for the Hammers to cough up.

As such, it seems a move to West Ham could be on the cards for Keane, if Everton do go down.

Adding Keane into the mix at West Ham would be a massive help in terms of their depth. The Hammers have struggled with that at centre-back for much of this season.
